• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS24 Custom Aerial Color Troubles

Thank you for pointing out the debug panel, now I can look under the hood. Debugging brought some interesting aspects to light, such as surface type and NRA. Maybe those have something to do with the recoloring, and I wonder if they can be edited or modified. I'll investigate further.

    MSFS24 Custom Aerial Color Troubles

Hello, I am developing an army airfield from 1935 to fit with Redwing's line of airfields, and I scanned and colorized an aerial photo to use as a background. I managed to import a custom aerial photo into MSFS 2024, but for some reason, the overlay is much different from the input. I...

MSFS20 Military Themes in Flight Simulation

Beale AFB by Blackbird Simulations has animated military personnel on the flightline and in the tower, but I agree, I would love to see more bases in MSFS. It would also be great to have a military counterpart to GSX

MSFS20 Military Themes in Flight Simulation

I think there is a very high interest in military aircraft and airfields for MSFS and MSFS 2024, and I am trying to learn scenery development so I can add airbases to the sim. Any restrictions imposed by Microsoft, which are functional weapons, only applies to content sold on the in-sim...

    Methodology for Ground Polygons

Here are a couple of videos of Austin Sass using Blender 3d to create ground polygons: I highly suggest you browse his channel for some more helpful videos on ground polygons with Blender: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLxXT4WGw3IjpLaMhfzRPAQ/featured

    Randolph AFB Scenery for FSX

Modeling and texturing is coming along slowly but surely. This is the landmark of Randolph, so I want to make sure I can get as much detail as I can without causing too much of an impact on performance.

    I'm working on scenery... (2020)

I am developing the scenery for Randolph AFB (KRND). It's been a long time, but the project is still alive! https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/randolph-afb-scenery-for-fsx.428101/

This picture looks like it used Cycles Rendering. Did you use Blender for this model?

Best tools for creating 3D for FSX/P3D

The program I use for my projects is Blender. It has a lot of the same features and works a lot like Gmax and 3DS Max, but it is free and open source.

    Randolph AFB Scenery for FSX

After looking at my project for some time, I decided end my project due to poor quality and start from scratch. I decided to switch to blender for object creation and use gimp for texture manipulation. The first object I created was the former firehouse, and so far, I am quite pleased with my...

P3D v2 Hand in Cockpit - Leap Motion

There are some videos on YouTube telling you how to animate a pilot controlling the plane from the exterior view. The pilot's movements are dependent on the input made by the player via the joystick. An ideal approach would be to modify the .mdl of the aircraft cockpit and add a hand to that...

P3D v2 Hand in Cockpit - Leap Motion

Although I am not experienced in programming, I do have some ideas that might work. I think using aircraft.cfg and simconnect are the best way to go. To make the cockpit switches interactive, try to find the script that allows you to click the switches in the virtual cockpit and use it for your...

    Randolph AFB Scenery for FSX

I have been working on this project for about a year now. Progress is coming slowly but steadily. At this point, I have completed all of the housing, former barracks, former fire station, bachelor officer quarters, and several others. I am also working on finishing touches for the Taj Mahal...
