• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

converting x, y coordinates to latitude and longitude, and vice-versa

is it possible to convert the x, y coordinate system used in GMAX to fs9's latitude and longitude coordinates? specifically, given that 0,0 in GMAX is the airport reference point, i would like to convert an object sitting at x,y in GMAX into its corresponding latitude and longitude (from...

arno - dds to extended bmp converter?

wait a minute, there's already a program to do this! i sent a message to martin wright (creator of dxtbmp) and as it turns out, he has a dds to ext bmp converter already available for download on his website: http://fly.to/mwgfx i didn't notice it before, because it was listed under...

arno - dds to extended bmp converter?

hi arno, thanks for looking into it. at least we know that it's certainly possible, albeit with a hex editor. i hope you can dig into it a little further in the future; i think the nvidia plugin is far superior to imagetool as far as quality is concerned, especially for nightmaps. thanks...

arno - dds to extended bmp converter?

attached is the result of imagetool dxt3 conversion without using a sharpen filter to pre-process the image. you'll see the artifacting is really bad compared to the nvidia dds dxt3 plugin.

layering Gmax and FSSC ground polygons

hi arno, thanks, i figured it also might have to do with which bgl file is read first. i was just a little curious about it. i had started my project in FSSC, but after reading your tutorial about GMax ground polys i decided it would be much better to do it that way (better control over...

layering Gmax and FSSC ground polygons

hi guys, i couldn't get a definite answer on this question from doing a search, so i'll post it here: if i create ground polygons using FSSC and compile to one bgl (layer 8), and then use GMAX to create another ground polygon that overlaps the other at some point (also layer 8), how does...
