• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MCX_Add Light_after DEV 11.13.23

Arno, I just found a issue when I was adding a "light" to an imported MDL. I have attached 2 pics that show the difference between the current DEV release and DEV 12/13.23. This issue surfaced with DEV 12/09/23. Once I add a "light" to an imported MDL and I try to "add another light", both...

    Dynamic lighting

Pat, the process to create dynamic lighting is not trivial by any means. It all starts with the airport itself...is your VEBD from P3D stock or is it from a 3rd party seller? If it is from a 3rd party, do you have the rights from the 3rd party to change/modify it? If yes, then its a matter of...

    Dynamic lighting

Yes, it certainly is possible. What FS are you running? (FS, P3D, MSFS) Here is a couple of pics from my KAUS airport apron, with dynamic lights in P3Dv5. This lighting was add using a combination of MCX and ADE Is this what you are looking to do?

    Dynamic lighting

Pat, you would use MCX to actually craft the dynamic lighting for a given object (mdl). To add this "changed/modified" object to a freeware scenery, you would be well advised to use ADE (Airport Design Editor), available on FSDeveloper. After creating the updated object MDL with MCX, you wouild...

MCX Export Scenery file size different after MCX "export scenery". File used: default airport_objects.bgl

Arno, sorry, I failed to add that I took your suggestion about selecting an object from the Imported Scenery and exporting it as a MDL and then "adding" it back...all with MCX. Same failure. That is when I took any "modification" on my part out of the equation and simply got the failure by...

MCX Export Scenery file size different after MCX "export scenery". File used: default airport_objects.bgl

Arno, I have done more investigation. I can cause the problem simply by Importing "Airport_objects.bgl" with MCX and then Export the Scenery. I touch or change nothing. That said, the jetway object is the one that ADE uses when you add a jetway to a parking spot. I dont know, I only "assume"...

MCX Export Scenery file size different after MCX "export scenery". File used: default airport_objects.bgl

OK, if I read you right, the issue appears not to be the fact that I have made a change to a particular model (although that is how I got here), but rather the simple fact that if I Import airport_objects.bgl, make NO changes and then Export Scenery from MCX back to...

MCX Export Scenery file size different after MCX "export scenery". File used: default airport_objects.bgl

Arno, thanks for the clarification regarding file size. That said, I certainly agree that "something" goes wrong that affects the jetways....any suggestion on how to determine "what went wrong". This has been a problem for multiple releases of P3D as far back a v4....I only now nailed it to...

MCX Export Scenery file size different after MCX "export scenery". File used: default airport_objects.bgl

Using MCX (latest version), Importing P3Dv5.4 "airport_objects.bgl", touching NOTHING and then Exporting Scenery, the file size of the "exported bgl" is 21,610KB while the "original airport_objects.bgl" was 21,929KB. This results in at least (1) observation with the default "jetways" and AI...

    P3Dv6 stock scenery objects GUID

Hervé, again, thank you for your insight, knowledge and reply. I have been aware of Jon retiring and I totally wish him good fortune,, he has been a God send to us with his expertise. You are correct on all accounts, the P3Dv5 bgl files do in fact compile in P3Dv6 and the taxiway signs created...

    P3Dv6 stock scenery objects GUID

Hervé WOW!...sorry, but I am impressed....I have dealt with FS and P3D for years, lots of work with ADE but never at this level and I THANK YOU. I got here, my question to you, as I moved a custom airport from P3Dv5.3 to P3Dv6 and then recompiled it with the P3Dv6 compiler. With ADE, I then...

    Prepar3D v6 support

Arno, many thanks for the insight. I have notice that in P3Dv6, in the Lighting Options, there is a slide bar for "gamma". Now in all honesty, I wouldnt know "gamma" if it knocked on my front door. However, I decided to "try it" and found that increasing the "gamma" in the lighting options has...

    Major News! LM Announce P3Dv6!

Tim, MANY THANKS for the reply and I totally agree and understand. I was glad to see Arno quickly provide support for v6 and by his own admission, he has not yet touched v6. So for the near term, v6 is installed here as is v5.4. I will tinker with v6 but fly with v5.4 and wait to see what comes...
