• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

Hi.. this is FS9. A PSS airbus, which is pretty old now. Yes, I can use Photoshop OK, but which file would I be looking for? I don't want to make any global changes. Thanks

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

    OK, that seemed so odd, I tried edting the aircraft.cfg file by putting // in front of all the entries under [Lights], i.e. [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit, 5=landing //light.0=5, 17.0, 0.0, -9.0, PSS_Light , // main land //light.1=3, -64.0, 4.0, 20.0, PSS_logo ...

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

Thanks Bill/mjl, but I am afraid that made no difference at all. I shut down and reloaded FS9 to be sure - even if I set the values all to 000 I get exactly the same intensity landing light.. The aircraft.cfg file has this: [LIGHTS] //Types: 1=beacon, 2=strobe, 3=navigation, 4=cockpit...

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

Hi again .. I am posting the effects file here (it is an effects file, with an fx extension): I don't really want to make it smaller, just dimmer; most values are set to zero, so I am a bit lost.. Thank you. [Library Effect] Lifetime=5 Version=2.00 Display Name=PSS_Light Radius=100...

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

It is the file PSS_lights (for PSS Airbus). It does not have an fx_ prefix, but am assuming it is still an effects file? I will experiment a bit further as soon as I can and post back. Thanks

    FS2004 Editing light fx files

In the section [ParticleAttributes.0], as a test, I changed this: Color Start=200,200,200,255 Color End=200,200,200,255 to this: Color Start=200,200,200,100 Color End=200,200,200,100 Is that what you meant? It makes no difference to the light in the aircraft though... Thanks.

Will go back and look at the file again (I actually want to make the light dimmer). Thanks.

How to edit a sound fx file?

Is it possible to increase the distance from which the sounds can be heard? Martin

How to edit a sound fx file?

With the tweaking I have done, the sound when AI a/c pass by is good, but it is only audible right up close: what I need is to be able to increase the radius from which the sounds are audible, but I can't see that this is possible ... Martin

How to edit a sound fx file?

I downloaded your files Tom, but as I say, it's not the wav files that are the problem: the ones I have are very 'gutsy' to say the least, but unless you are right next to the traffic you hear nothing. What would really be great would be to get some reverser sounds. I have installed a number...

How to edit a sound fx file?

HI, many thanks. Yes, this is FS9 (or FS2004, as I mentioned somewhere). The whole reason for my spending hours on this is to get back a little of the ambience I had for all the years I ran FSHotSFX on Windows XP. Now I use Windows 7 (x64), that is no longer possible and I can't help but hear...

How to edit a sound fx file?

I've experimented for a few days with this and have found out a few interesting things... Firstly, it seems that AI aircraft ignore any sound folder+sound.cfg file that you might add. Is that so? The sound traffic makes as it taxis to the runway is the same if I delete the sound folder from the...

How to edit a sound fx file?

Thanks a lot for the reply Gary - I haven't really had a chance to digest it yet - will look tomorrow properly (day off work). It's for FS9.. I've already amplified the wav files themselves by the way - an improvement certainly but still very weak in FS9. Martin
