• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Not a TIFF file, bad version number 43 (0x2b) - File size too large

Thanks Gary. This was a success in that I learned a few things. Houston was terrible place to make a 1m DEM for though. It is fairly flat 😄. I can see mounds of dirt, riverbeds, gullies etc in the mesh when down very low though, which looks good. Unfortunately at 1m resolution the mesh is...

P3D v5 Not a TIFF file, bad version number 43 (0x2b) - File size too large

For anyone reading later, the methods I used were: Combined groups of files using a virtual raster method, eg: gdalbuildvrt mosaic.vrt C:\Users\scott\Desktop\Houston_LIDAR\DEM\7\*.tif then gdal_translate -of GTiff -co "TILED=YES" mosaic.vrt...

P3D v5 Not a TIFF file, bad version number 43 (0x2b) - File size too large

I managed to find a way, thanks Gary. I combined rows of the original DEM GeoTiffs, ending up with 9 files, and first I thought I had cracked it, but then once again, 6 out of the 9 files were too large, being between 4.1GB and 4.6GB. Then I tried to use compression in the gdal warp phase, but...

P3D v5 Not a TIFF file, bad version number 43 (0x2b) - File size too large

Thanks Gary. I actually meant split the source GeoTiff into 4, so each source file would be 7.5GB. Not sure what the limit is on source files. There were originally 78 individual files, so I didn't want to reproject 78 individual files and create 78 individual bgls. My purpose for creating...

P3D v5 Not a TIFF file, bad version number 43 (0x2b) - File size too large

Hi, I'm trying to create some mesh for the Houston area. I have downloaded the 1m DEM files from USGS, stitched them together with FWTools/gdal, then reprojected to WGS84 also with gdal. That took a long time to create a pretty large file (31GB). I can see it's still a GeoTiff when I import...

P3D v5 Vegetation Autogen from Point Shapefile?

Thanks Arno. You may be right. I ended up deleting all the guids and inputting them directly in ScenProc. BTW, where does ScenProc read the guids from? I am using P3Dv5, so does it read directly from that sim's root folder? After running a complete Cantabria script again there was...

P3D v5 Vegetation Autogen from Point Shapefile?

Thanks for confirming Arno. I thought the guids were valid, as I had used them in other files and I got them straight from a FSX guid thumbnail viewer, but perhaps they didn't show up in the other scenery either. I have just check in the autogen annotator and there is no autogen on the PR I...

P3D v5 Vegetation Autogen from Point Shapefile?

Hi, I have had success so far creating autogen vegetation and buildings from two shapefiles in each area, with buildings and landuse in their names. There is another shapefile which has "natural" in the name, and it appears to made up of singular points, each representing trees, peaks, cave...

Thanks so much Arno. I'll give it a go.

P3D v5 Any advice on why I can't get any vegetation autogen please?

I have just recently started to learn Scenproc to make some autogen for photoreal areas I have. I have downloaded some shapefiles for Spain, where I am currently trying to make the autogen for. The shapefiles are split up by region, which is handy because the photoscenery I have is also split...

    Transparency issue on PAPI models

Thanks, but no. All sceneries are installed after inputting the serial. Aerosoft sceneries will not install without a correct serial number.

    Transparency issue on PAPI models

Turns out the huge wall isn't the actual problem, because other sceneries probably by the same developer, also have the huge wall on the same model, but it does not appear in the sim. Also, when I opened the PAPI model again, from one of the sceneries where it had the transparency issue, the...

    Transparency issue on PAPI models

Hi. I have recently installed a few airports in P3Dv5, some with installers only up to P3Dv4. I have found a few airports, Malaga, Menorca, and Ibiza all from Aerosoft, are displaying a strange issue with the PAPI models. At first I thought it was a transparency issue with the light textures...

P3D v5 Photosceneries and Autogen Packages for the world

That's terrible timing on my part. I had just come back to P3D in the last year or so (but still using MSFS too) and just today was going through and installing a heap of photoscenery I had, and I thought of your autogen project. Then I found your last post while searching for it. 😅 Not to...
