• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Trouble setting a SimObject value based on two variables

Ant for the win! Your version worked a treat. Thanks so much! I have learned something new this morning, and I've barely even had my coffee.

MSFS20 Trouble setting a SimObject value based on two variables

Hey thanks, Rick. I think the difference between this scenery simobject and an aircraft is that the roll and pitch animations for a joystick are actually separate anims, requiring a separate single-variable value for each, so not really comparable. Anyhoo, I tried ChatGPT's version. Same thing...

MSFS20 Trouble setting a SimObject value based on two variables

Thanks! I gave that a go, but it doesn't work either. I'm starting to wonder if we can even evaluate two variables in a SimObject.

Thanks for the input, Dick! Unfortunately, no luck with that syntax either.

MSFS20 Trouble setting a SimObject value based on two variables

Hi guys, For some reason, I'm stumbling over this code. I've got an air conditioner unit that I'm trying to add to my scenery. The idea is to have the blades spin only when between certain hours (08:00 and 18:00), and only if the ambient temperature is above 20c. So far, I haven't been able to...

    Time to Retire

Have a great retirement, Jon! Thanks so much for all you've done during your long FS career. You've helped a whole bunch of us scenery devs immensely. Enjoy some well-deserved time off!

It's looking good. Got downtown Dallas inserted into MSFS and it looks really nice. All the modeling for KDAL is done, and about half the texturing. We're just beavering away on that now, trying to get it looking as good as possible. Man, things look beautiful in MSFS.

    P3D v5 P3Dv5 bridges not excluding

Hi everyone. As of P3D 5.3, I can't seem to exclude extrusion bridges at all using exclusion rectangles. For instance, here's an exclusion I made for the Glenn Jackson bridge at KPDX. It compiles fine, but does nothing to remove the bridge now. Has anyone else battled this? <?xml version="1.0"...

    P3D v5 Placing spotlights - workflow

Ah, I re-read his instructions and figured it out. Turns out I had the 64-bit version of Java but not the 32-bit. Whisplacer will run with the 64-bit, but it won't connect to the sim. Problem solved!

    P3D v5 Placing spotlights - workflow

I'm having trouble getting Whisplacer to find P3Dv5. I installed it today, got the current JRE, and it seems to run fine. However, with P3D running, it says it can't find the simconnect port. Did you guys have to manually configure the ports, or did they just work?

Could it be that you don't have a tile server set up in your SceneryBuilderX settings? You'll need to choose one in order to show background images.

We're targeting MSFS for sure, but most likely P3D as well.

Video Tutorial Series for Creating Scenery with Blender

The current exporter for Blender seems to work great, so that should be no problem. As for KDAL, it's in an advanced state of development. We were waiting for a good 737 for MSFS before releasing, but now that PMDG has targeted this summer for theirs, we're moving ahead on completing it. There...

Video Tutorial Series for Creating Scenery with Blender

Oh, for sure. I've built several airports in Blender 2.9x. The differences are mostly in the Blender interface, but all the techniques still work.

Absolutely! 3DSMax is a fine tool, so if you don't mind the high cost, it works great. Blender is easily its equal when it comes to sim design, though. And it's massively more advanced than Gmax.
