• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Possible Bug with X Model Animation?

OK, so I figured out how to fix it. It seems that, regardless of what's in the SDK, the modeldef, or the xanim file, the parts (at least for this model) demand a length of 200 in the AnimStream tag. So that requires changing each part's entry, both for length and for Keyframe times. It also...

Possible Bug with X Model Animation?

I do, but that's partly because of how the sim handles the animations - setting the controls to neutral, for example. I'm doing some more investigating, comparing the output of various FSX-native models, and I think this may be more of an issue of my not fully understanding how the system...

Possible Bug with X Model Animation?

I'm testing a model I'm converting with MCX, and I'm having issues with several of the animations assigned to the standard "<animation>_percent_key" animations. As an example, we'll use the elevators. When I move the stick halfway in one direction (toward frame 100), the elevator is already at...

    Reversing Animations

Export Object, change "Save as type" to "FSX object X file (*.X)", name as required. You should get two files, <filename>.x and <filename>.xanim. Open the .xanim file in the text editor of your choosing (I use Wordpad) and find the section you're animating (look for the animation type you...

    Reversing Animations

Tried that, didn't have any luck. It honestly looked like it should have worked. That said, in 15 minutes, I took Arno's suggestion, exported the model as an X, figured out what I was looking at, and fixed the flaps. I also fixed the aileron animation so that I didn't have to use a custom...

    Reversing Animations

Yeah, that's what I was trying to do too - and did successfully for an aileron that was also not animated in the right direction. But as noted, this part ignores any changes to the "Scale" variable. Unless there's another way to reverse it in modeldef that I haven't found out about yet...

    Reversing Animations

Hello all, looking for a little help to save my desk from further head-related damage. I'm attempting to convert an older flyable model into an AI model (for personal use, of course - trying to get our museum's soon-to-be-flying Stinson OY-1 flying in my sim). I have everything else fixed...

AI Runway Direction on Single Strip

Yeah, I kinda got that feeling. I spent about two hours browsing through threads on here, but I figured I'd post just in case I had missed something. Thanks. Guess "close enough" is just going to have to do.

AI Runway Direction on Single Strip

Looking to tap some of the accumulated knowledge here. I'm working on building all of Fiji's little island strips that are missing from FSX. These all appear to be uncontrolled, largely grass, single-runway airfields. The problem with several of them, however, is that they're either...
