• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    New 30m GDEM

Good source for latitudes 60 – 83, isnt it? There is quite strong radiation for astronauts, so it was the opportunity for robots :-)

    [SOLVED] Seasons

    Hi Fern, if I understand it correctly, the situation is for example like this month Cel1 Cel2 blend 1 1 HW 1 HW 1 HW 2 1 HW 1 HW 1 HW 3 1 HW 1 HW 1 HW 4 0 WI 1 HW 6 FERN 5 2 SP 2 SP 2 SP 6 3 SU 3 SU 3 SU 7 3 SU 3 SU 3 SU 8 3 SU 3 SU 3 SU 9 4 FA 4 FA 4 FA 10 4 FA 4 FA 4 FA 11 4...

    Help with blendmask

Hi, I am not experienced in this field, but suppose, that most of the simple graphic editors use channels 0,1,2 for R, G, B, so the first appended alpha should be 3. So it can be also Channel_BlendMask = 1.3 in this case ? Best regards Vlada

    Getting High Detail Coordinates

Hi Matthias and Lance, I also like the TCalcX showing many parameters. When the question is only to increase the Lat Lon coordinates precision, there is also possible to add following lines into fsx.cfg under the Main section: LatLonFormat=Degrees FractionalLatLonDigits=6 (It can be...

    Earth is smaller

Hi all, the Earth is smaller: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/07/070709-earth-size.html (happily we have the FractionBits in resampler) Cheers Vlada Stoje

    Mesh Shift

Hi Kobbe, don't round the CellDimensionDeg, for the 1/3s data it is 1/(3600*3) = 0.0000925926. The rounded value 0.00009 causes big errors, in the meridian direction about 3 kilometers every degree. Best regards Vlada

    top-down view

Hi, it is precisely as Arno explained. Excellent tool for the study of the fs sceneries is the TmfViewer from SDK, in FSX here is visible for example the border between SRTM and Not-SRTM areas in Scandinavia http://www.volny.cz/stoje/scen/fsx_srtm2.gif or the waterclass...

New tutorial for SBuilder for FSX

Hi Luis & Luis, big thanks for SBuilderX and for this tutorial! Just small detail about the freeways exclude, Dick Ludowise invented this workaround http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=123&topic_id=33106&mesg_id=33174&page= If I remember correctly, in the betaversion of...

    Real World "scenery mistakes"

Hi all, one my friend which is expert in the geodesy pointed me to interesting case. Two ends of the expressway in Poland passed 5.5 kilometer (3.5 mile or 3 nm) http://data.idnes.cz/g/zpravy/svet/dalnice_polsko.htm What we all perhaps know perfectly in our experiments with the scenery...

European vertical reference frame Hi Horst, thanks for this detailed picture for Austria! It is in good agreement with the last picture in this article http://www.fig.net/pub/fig_2002/Ts5-3/TS5_3_augath_ihde.pdf describing the European vertical reference frame EVRF2000. There are...

    GeoTIFF Mesh

Hi, I finally found one mention about the Swiss-German bridge http://www.inwent.org/ef/events/tbt/06741/index.en.shtml We should be careful with the vertical datums :) Cheers Vlada Stoje

    GeoTIFF Mesh

Hi Scott, the FS world oceans have simplified shape of the WGS84 rotation ellipsoid, so they differ from the real oceans or from the geoid vertically several hundreds meters on some places, but this doesn’t matter for the aviation sim. About vertical datums, the modern continental or regional...

    GeoTIFF Mesh

Hi, thanks for reply! Scott, there are different vertical parameters of the dem data, for example for SRTM: 1. Vertical accuracy of the data. In the report “An assessment of the SRTM topographic products” at http://www2.jpl.nasa.gov/srtm/SRTM_D31639.pdf there is described the 90% Absolute...
