• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS20 Blender2MSFS support thread

It sounds like it might be an old guid xml file? To check the xml file isn’t an old one, you could manually update it with the sample one from the SDK. The new version exports the guid in the correct format though. The other thing to try is to make sure there isn’t a duplicate item in your...

    MSFS20 Radio / Nav airport settings MSFS2020

Thanks for this. I missed it as it was a screenshot. I'm going to try similar syntax for approach and ground.

    MSFS20 Need ideas/brainstorming - reasonable ICAO-Codes for airports without ICAO-Code

The only way I found to remove the existing airport was to create the new one with the same ICAO. I’m going to look at the xml later. It might be that we can do it by editing the xml directly.

    MSFS20 Radio / Nav airport settings MSFS2020

Hi all, I've been making good progress with building EGVW (ehm EGBF), and I've started to have a look and Nav / Airport radios... in short, I cant see where you define them. I couldn't see mention of it in the SDK. Any advice? Thanks,

    MSFS20 Need ideas/brainstorming - reasonable ICAO-Codes for airports without ICAO-Code

Hi Ian, They've done it the world over, assigning ICAO's unused ICAO's to strips that would never have them. One approach might be to come up with an alpha numeric 2 digit code for each country and then assign the next 2 characters in sequence. The trouble is I don't think there is a way to...

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

You are not wrong George! :) But progress has been made. I've found that you can actually do taxiways in the SDK and I've found Bing Imagery to edit for the airport background... now if I just finish editing these tiles in Gimp....

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

I tried this... I couldn't see anywhere to change the priority on the Runways, so I changed the taxiway polys to -1, -2 etc (assuming that would be below the runway (which I assumed to be 0) but it didn't seem to make a difference :scratchch

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

Another stupid question from me. If I do a poly for a taxiway, in the old world I would make it overlap the runway slightly, and then, in ADE make sure the runway was on top of the poly. In the SDK I can’t see where to set the runway to be on top, and as a result, the overlapping taxiway is on...

MSFS20 Introduction to MSFS SDK (scenery)

I followed it last night, and all worked well, I’m really happy with it... although I was playing about wait it on Gimp until 04:30.

    MSFS20 AI models

The default AI are indeed fictional, it was implied that it was a combination of licensing/ wanting to encourage 3rd party development and the way it works with live AI. There are lots of possibilities for future development. You can of course enable the AI engine to use the full models in your...

MSFS20 [GUIDE] How to create custom aerial scenery

@Augustin Winther - I know this is a Gimp question, but I figured you might know the answer quickly. I have the Tiff images all in the grid in Gimpand it all looks good. However, I cant do anything on the images... erase, paint, clone, I cant edit the image. I know this is something stupid, but...

    MSFS20 Registry

Hi George, I've just done a quick scan of my registry and I don't think the path is listed. Its held in the Program Folders in the WindowsApps directory. There may be some way of querying it, but I don't think its in the registry.

MSFS20 [GUIDE] How to create custom aerial scenery

Just another note. If using GIMP, you will likely need to go to EDIT>Preferences>Maximum new image size and change this from the default value of 130Mb to something larger than the size of your project. My image size was going to be 3.2GB so I set this value to 4GB

    MSFS20 2020 xml

Neil, when you place and save them, that’s just updating the xml file that’s used when you select the project (not the bgl). Once you’ve saved the scenery, (if your folder structure is correctly set up) select the project name, not the bgl. Once the project name is highlighted, open inspector...

    Texture Issue??

If you look at the example below. Two of the textures were 125 x 255. These failed when I clicked on build. Changing them to 128 x 256 in Gimp and re-building, and they convert successfully. I'm not sure how the original sizing happened, probably an accident when I had been working on them...

    Texture Issue??

I've been getting that too! I had exported them from Gimp as PNG's, and I was sure they were square going into Gimp as jpg. Anyway, I've checked again and while some that aren't square are fine (eg. 256 x 128) the two in question are odd sizes in the exported PNG. Going to resize and retry.
