• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Hi,

I've been having endless problems with the new FSX parameter "-AddToCells".

With Sbuilder I cannot export polygons or lines without getting this error:

When I try it with FSXKML tool it hangs on "Processing..."

This is not unique to the shape/KML file I am using, because I've had this occur at least 5 times before. Also, if I draw a simple line with SBuilderX it cannot even export that without an error.

I haven't seen posts about a problem like this so I'm guessing everyone else isn't having trouble.

Thanks,
Kobbe

The project name in SBuilder is "airparkx" so the "Shapes _" was added by Sbuilder on compile.

I usually do not put spaces in file names, if needed, I'll use the underscore _.

Also, if I draw a simple line with SBuilderX it cannot even export that without an error.

Hello,

You say Export but I assume you mean Compile. Yes?

May be you could Export the "single line project" that produces the error when you try to compile and paste here the TXT export file. Then, me or another user could replicate the problem. Alternatively you can send me a private email with the project and I will try to find what goes wrong.

Kind Regards, Luis

Hi Luis,

Thank you for the help. If you had the time, examining my current project would be more useful because the single-line project wouldn't cover as much ground.

I'll send you an email and when you have the time I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at it for me.

Thanks,
Kobbe

Hello Kobbe,

I received your email. The properties of the project showed 436 lines, 1 polygon and (!!!) -2 maps. I have no idea how a negative number of maps can appear in SBuilderX (there is certainly a bug that I have not came across yet) but this negative number of maps is irrelevant for this discussion.

I could export the project as a TXT SBX file and I read the generated file with a text editor and all was fine.

Then I selected everything and Compiled. I got no error. I did not tried the scenery in FSX. I went to the Shapes folder and saw the generated files there.

So I started a new empty project and I chose to append a Shape file. I poinetd to the Shapes folder and to the files that I had generated before. They were imported correctly and I saw the same 436 lines as before.

In conclusion: I find no problem with your project.

Kind Regards,

Luis

Oh geez, leave it to me to get -2 maps in there somehow.

I'm beginning to suspect my version of Shp2Vec is bad. I reinstalled the SDK once already to fix it when the .EXE file suddenly went to 0 bytes.

Could you send me your EXE file?

Thanks a lot for your help Luis!

Kobbe

I also tried doing it manually with Shp2Vec, but that didn't work either.

Thinking that my .DBF files could be incorrect, I checked them against the working vector examples from Micrsoft but there's no difference except for the UUID value. From what I understand, that's unimportant.

What could possibly cause it to hang on the "Processing..." part? Frustrating that I'm the only one experiencing this.

Hello,

We definitively have a concrete situation - the project that you send to me. There nothing wrong with it. So, can you compile that PRECISE project? If not I suggest that you reinstall SBuilderX.

I am sorry but I have no idea of what could be causing this problem,

Kind Regards,

Luis

Hi Luis,

Sure enough, a complete uninstall then reinstall solved the problem. Not sure what happened to the program in the first place, but at least its fixed for now.

Thanks for providing us with this great program,
Kobbe
