• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aircraft Range & Air File

How do I check the range of an aircraft? I know it varies base on a lot of other factors such as thrust setting, wind and altitude. But how do I get the rough estimate of the range an aircraft is capable of flying? If for some reason I want to change the range of an aircraft is there any way to change it?

Beside AirEd and AirWrench is there any other good air file editor?

Unless you actually "fly" it in the sim, under a fixed set of conditions, your best "guess" is real world figures for the particular (or similar) airplane.

As far as I know, AirEd and AirWrench are the two best air file editors. There used to be "Aircraft Airfile Manager" but after a small update for FS2004, it went out of sight.

The aircraft.cfg will allow you to change alot of the aircraft settings, but to get to the main ones, you will need an air file editor.

I have AirWrench and it works perfectly, if you choose to get it, make sure you send your serial number after your order, you get this in the about box, it will speed up the rego process.

Well, if all other factors (cruise speed, thrust settings, climb rate and so on) are correct, range is simply a matter of fuel flow.

You can tray to adjust the fuel flow scalar in the aircraft.cfg but this affects all power settings.
If you want to change the fuel flow at some specific N2, you have to edit table 1505.

The easiest way to edit such tables is in my opinion to use Aircraft Airfile Manager (AAM).

Hi
You can use an app called AFSD its a exe that plugs into FS9 via FSUIPC.dll
It has no docs, the orig site that had the file has gone and I cant find it anywhere on the net.(see link in next message for location of file).Basically start fs9 in window mode make sure you have a ver of fsuipc installed in the fs9/modules folder then launch the ASFD app, click on start and use the drop down list to find the fuel management section.this will give you all the needed info in real time as you fly.
cheers
