• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Scenario:

1) Extract xml file from a default scenery bgl.
2) Open FSXP and imprort the airport (EGCC).
3) check approaches have been imported (yes), edit these and save new xml with a different name (security!).
4) open saved xml later to continue - no approaches?

What have I done wrong or do I need to compile and re -extract a revised xml file to continue?

You haven't done anything wrong. It was a bug that prevented the approaches from being saved. This should be fixed in the next release.

Release 18 fixed the bug with approaches not being saved, and that one is out now. So if you have that version and your approaches are still not saving, please let me know.

Getting it now! Is there any 'auto' advice system about updates or is it just checking the forum each day?! (To explain, the new release announcement had cycled off my page)

.... Everything with approaches is fine now - many thanks! ;)

We have an auto-update feature, but unfortunately it only works on XP. This is due to Vista's security model which prevents an application from making changes to the Program Files folder. So for now we have not included the feature. Worst case scenario would be something that just said there is an update available and you'd have to go and download it yourself. But, of course, we'd rather have a system that just downloads an installs the update automatically.

I use XP - and have no intentions of going down the Vista route until I am forced too!

How do I join?

MTIA,

As the auto update feature doesn't work in Vista, we haven't included it in the app as it would causes crashes in Vista. Until we work that out it won't be available for either XP or Vista. :(
