• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

There is no highlight check box in my Model Converter X Attach Object Editor either V1.l60 OR V1.70. Itdoes not have anything for me to check so that I can see the location of the added object like it used to. What is not checked in the options or true/false etc. so I can get it back. I want to be sure I have cables on a flight deck and can't see where they will be.

Hi,

It's the hierarchy editor that has to option to highlight the selected part. If you select an attached object it is always highlighted.

I have used this often in the past even as recent as a month or so ago to attach lights to an airport and I got little red squares. In V1.30 I got little yellow squares. I saw in the options for color selection for this. I select an object in attach object editor the but it is NOT highlighted. That is why I am confused I though that it did that every time too but not on my MDCx either version. I just opened up the KMGW terminal which I created and added 10 spotlights to the ramp lights in P3DV4 and also blinking obstruction light effects on top of the ramp lights and nothing gets a red box at all. All the effects are in the editor. I have not done any added objects in a few weeks so something happened in between it working and now. Thank you for answering right away.

Just because...I went through my archives and opened up Version 1.3 and it works perfectly as it should with the flightdeck platforms all red and the cable attach points all red squares. I love all the new stuff that V1.6 and .v1.7 does and do not want to have to use V1.3 to get things done again. I was also able to find my archived version 1.50 and IT WORKS PERFECTLY AS WELL. A real head scratcher????? Could another UNWANTED Windows 10 upgrade have affected 1.6 and 1.7? I await your reply. Maybe I should try a new download and uninstall V1.6 and reinstall it and see what happens.

I downloaded a brand new install of MDCx V 1.60 and put it in C: as well as my V1.50. V1.50 works and V1.60 does not as far as the attach object editor showing where platforms, attach points etc. on the cv6.mdl

Hi,

I have just checked here in the latest development release. When I selected an attached object in the editor it is still highlighted in the preview (the dot goes from red to yellow).

The rendering of the platforms has changed a little time ago, instead of being drawn as red polygons, they are now shown as a wireframe on top of the model. The edges of that wireframe do change color based on the selection.

I don't get anything like this. I personally like the Version 1.5 way much better. I don't have perfect vision and the whole red deck etc. works much better for me. Since I am able to use Version 1.5 still I will continue with it. Maybe take a survey and see which is preferred by the community? Thank you for all your replies.

It was changed because MSFS also has the concept of invisible materials which are used for things like platforms and also collision boxes. As there obstructed the preview of the object I turned them into a wireframe. It was most consistent then to render the platforms the same. But let me check if I can make the edges a bit thicker so that they are easier to spot

thank you for trying to make it more visible. I am sure that I can't be the only one that liked it better before. Nuts to MSFS! FSX and P3D users I'll bet are much more numerous yet. There are still some FS2004 guys too. There are those of us who can't afford a new computer just so we can run MSFS even if we wanted it. Also what about all the X-plane guys too. It seems that MSFS is "dictating" what direction everything is going and I know lots who bought it, don't like it and have moved to or back to P3D or X-plane. Ok, I'm through ranting. You I'm sure updated it wanting to improve it and I have been using MDCx for many years with you and thank you so much for creating it and all for free. It has to serve everyone on all the sims not just one sim.

Hi,

I have made a change in the code now, the value that you specify in the settings for the width of the lines in the wireframe mode also applies to the attached platform now. So that makes it possible to make them more visible. It will be in the next development release.

Thank you so much Arno. I look forward to it. In the meantime I will still use V 1.50 that paints them all red and red squares.
