• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Attachpoint export and import?

Hi Arno and all,

Is there a way to export and import attachpoint parameters? I frequently update my models by generating a new one with MCX but using the old GUID. It would be great if I did not have to re-do all the attachpoints, but could simply export all of them as a single file and import into the updated model.

Also a question about the orientation entry in the attachpoint tool. For heading, pitch and roll, which directions are positive, and what are the maximum values? (To me it looks like the max may be plus or minus179.99 for unknown reasons.)

Thanks so much in advance,

Larry

Hi Larry,

It is on my todo list to allow saving attachpoints to a file, so that you can load them again into a new version of the model. I'll see if I can add this feature relatively soon.

Hi,

And for the orientation there is no real limit, you can enter any angle you want. But the tool will present them between -180 and 180 degrees indeed.

The positive direction is as for any right handed coordinate system, so counterclockwise along the axes shown.

Thanks so much Arno!

Exporting – importing attachpoints would not only save time, but in my case, lot’s of mistakes. :-) What started as a lark, just to see if I could do it has turned into more of a project with a lot of questions as a result. I’ll try not to abuse the privilege of asking them on this forum. Current progress on the pilotable WSF ferry MV Kaleetan shown after docking: http://sdrv.ms/SUGjpZ

Hi Arno,

I thought I might see if you have made any progress on an export import option for attach points in MCX. I was planning to finish adding running lights to the rest of my AI ferries soon. But then I realized that with 10 entries per boat, and 8 boats to do, I have 80 individual attach points to create! With export - import I could do this fairly quickly by making an Excel spreadsheet with the required locations for each boat, using a template from a boat where I know all the lights work. Being naturally lazy, I thought I would check. :)

Thanks for all your work,

Larry

Hi,

It's still on the todo list, hopefully I can add it before the end of the year.
