• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Autogen building size using FSX annotator?

Whereas with the fS2004 annotator I could set the building size for each tile, with FSX it seems I can only set it for the entire image? This is a bit of a backward step. Anyone have a way around this?

yep i noticed that as well Robin....

The only way i can think to get around it is to copy your imagery into another folder, annotate the areas with higher buildings then copy the agns into the same folder at the end.

Thanks, Timmo, one of the good things about geoTIFFs is that I can easily cut out the necessary area, run it through resample and use it to fine-tune the building size.
Still, considering the fact that we're dealing with much larger areas, which will almost certainly include a high-rise city area bordering a low-rise industrial area, it's a bit of an oversight:)

I agree completely... A SHP2AGN tool would be really useful, but so far no one has taken up the challenge...

I might end up trying to find a software coder who may be able to create such a tool...

Going from GIS SHP files to AGN would be so much more beneficial...

Anyway most of my projects are based on USGS DOQ and DOQQ files so it makes life a little less stressful if you're only annotating a DOQ at a time...

that would be great....I asked about this a little while ago but I dont have the coding knowledge to attempt it.

It would reaaaaaaaaaaalllllly help out us GIS'ers. Ive got a heap of data which have these topological relationships- Landcover polys digitised off aerial photos- so if a tool like this existed it would speed up development of photoreal scenery immensly.
