• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hi, i'm using maptobgl, for some personal use addons, when i install my new scenery there is no autogen, i am new to autogen development, can someone please tell me the best and easiest way of adding and creating autogen.

btw developing for fs2004

thanks

Hi,

Did you look at the SDK and the Annotator tool it contains? That will allow you to create autogen for a photo scenery. There are some other tools around that might be easier to use, but other might be able to give a better advice on that.

this for fsx,
i am doing fs9 development
i think ididnt clarify enough my fault, srry

wat i am tryin to do is build autogen from scratch apart from vegetation- most buildings and vehcles i will make, can i make these on gmax (or any other software you no of?) and use a tool to plot these on to the game?
thanks

Hi,

Adding custom autogen to FS2004 requires you to tweak the main autogen.xml file, this can become a bit tricky when you want to redistribute the scenery later.

If you only cover a relatively small area you might be better off placing your objects at the right location with a XML file and the BGLComp SDK (although they are no autogen then).

hi, since creating new autogen for large areas would be tricky, i would make Some buildings, vehicles etc on gmax, then is there a utility that can let me easily plot these (not as autogen) onto the game-with a easy to use GUI because placing a large number of objects using co-ordinates would be way too hard.
also on fs2004 there are boats, docks are these autogen? how can i add them to my custom scenery.

For FS2004 there are multiple object placement tools, for example EZ-Scenery, Instant Scenery, Rwy12, ObPlacer XML. The first two are payware and allow live preview in FS2004 while placing the objects. The last two are freeware.

You will find some of these objects in the default libraries. If you have their GUIDs you can use them in your projects as well. Many of the placement tools mentioned before will show you these objects.
