• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Blender thread

Can we have a dedicated Blender thread? There are threads for Sketchup, 3ds & gmax, and other tools. Blender is becoming more popular among 3d environments due to flexibility and support levels, oh and the price. It is not the same software it was 3-4 years ago.

Reason being is I want to start sharing some tips and info with people who use blender that I have learned over my span of use, and using General or 3d General would make it harder to locate for people specifically accustomed to blenders functions and mapping (such as AO and texture baking, using exports and benefits vs drawbacks to select formats for FS use, quick mod and quick use tips to reduce access times, using nodes to modify textures for conversion to FS necessary formats, attempting to use the NLA to make constant animations and such)

Not bad Idea, I join your suggestion .

For me it's ok to make a subforum dedicated to blender.

How would we go about doing that? I dont see options available for non-admin/moderator levels to great sub-forums :D

I think it would be best under Scenery & 3D Objects since thats wher the other 3d programs are listed.

Hi Kevin.

I think it's a good idea as well. Perhaps a sub-forum under Scenery & 3D Objects for a start, and if there is aircraft interest enough, another sub-forum later under that heading.

With P3D coming out with version 2, we might just need another free 3D program for the future, as gmax might not be the best fit.

Hi Kevin,

I'll add it in the next few days.

That is true

Hi Kevin,

I'll add it in the next few days.

Thanks arno

This is great! I have been slowly learning to do aircraft design in Blender. Once I got past the interface I find it is possibly better than Gmax. I have been following the Fokker D.21 thread and see that ModconvX is an acceptable compiler.

Carry On! Paul
