• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Calibration

I have a friend who when adding a map (with associated txt file) gets the message "You may need to calibrate" and the map properties dialog doesn't have the Map name from the txt file nor the lat/long values.

I have used his files and the map is autocalibrated on my system.

He has deleted SBuilder.ini and allowed it to create a new one but the error persists.

Are there any settings which could be checked?

Note. He is using V313, downloaded from FSDeveloper.

Further information.

He is using Vista64 so I tried installing on W7 64bit and get exactly the same results.

When adding the map I get:

If I click "Data File" I get:

If I copy the data from the txt file and click "OK", the map disappears from the grid :eek:

SBX is installed to a separate drive from W7, I have full access rights to the folder tree and UAC is turned off.

I have also tried running in XP compatibility mode with exactly the same results.

Can anyone add a map from disk when running under a 64bit OS?

If i change only the map name in properties and click "OK" it will stick and it will compile, however, it has the wrong dimensions.

If I change the lat/long values it disappears from the grid however, the project file has the correct values:

Code:
[Main]
CopyRight=PTSIM SB313
Name=PROJECT
NoOfMaps=1
NoOfLands=0
NoOfLines=0
NoOfPolys=0
NoOfWaters=0
NoOfObjects=0
NoOfExcludes=0
NoOfLWCIs=0
BGLProjectFolder=G:\SBuilderX\Scenery
LatDispCenter= 38.7813203
LonDispCenter=-9.136076
Zoom= 18

[Map.1]
Name=PhotoInishmaan
BMPSu=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
BMPSp=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
BMPFa=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
BMPWi=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
BMPHw=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
BMPLm=G:\SBuilderX\Tools\Work\Inishmaan.bmp
Cols= 3200
Rows= 2400
NLat= 53.1177266666667
SLat= 53.0558663350789
ELon=-9.525146484375
WLon=-9.6624755859375

Aha, if I import the project, I don't see the map but, I can use "Select/All Maps" and compile and it creates the correct bgl :confused:

Hi Folks

George -
No idea,
other than about the "disappears from the grid".

Try manually editing Luis's default coords
in the SBuilder.ini
LatIniCenter= 53.84
LonIniCenter=-3.58
to something relatively local.

What I really wanted to say was -
Inishmaan would make a great test piece
for Don Grovestine's fencebuilder pro. :eek:

Paul,

You are a genius :D

Changing the ini coordinates did the trick, the image stayed on the grid after editing the properties :wave:

It doesn't explain why the associated text file was not read, so I still needed to edit the properties dialog.

Why this should happen only on W7/Vista64 beats me, it works fine on XP.

Hi Folks

George -
LOL
Sorry no idea about reading from text failure.
Just know that wood from trees feeling. :D

PS
It's that long since I played with SBuilder.

Does the number of rows/cols relate to
- the canvas proportions ?
or to
- the image's proportions ?

If the latter,
looking at the image's relative dimensions,
seems odd that the rows/cols
indicate a wide/short image,
rather than your narrow/long image.

There is no "canvas" as such, the bmp is complete.

The image is 3200x2400 pixels, but because SBX was using values from the ini, it created a long, thin picture.

BTW, using SBX/GMaps, it is easy to create photo inserts for airports. However, it also shows how far out of position the default runways are.

This is Islay, EGPI:
