• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

can't rotate object

For some reason simply nothing happens when I try to rotate (in object mode) by pressing 'r'.
It worked before in that particular file.
I'm using Blender v2.79 but alsoencountered this issue in previous versions.
Is there a wrong button I pressed? Does anybody know how to re-enable it?

I figured the locks were all open. Other than that the issue applies to anything within the file, So I'm curious if there was a global lock somewhere.

A possible solution was to reimport everything into a new file but I'd prefer to unset this somehow.

Everything here works fine also, rotate etc... I'm assuming that you are referring to v2.79b? Correct?

Yes, I have b2.79b but as I said this also happened on other versions.

Again, the problem only occurs in certain files and after a while, not from the begining.
I assumed I might have locked or disabled something globally by accident.
In edit mode everything works fine, meanwhile in object mode rotate and scale operation no longer have an effect.
The operation pretends to work, meaning the cursor changes, the post edit panel appears just as usual. Only the actual result is missing.

even funnier:
If I select multiple objects and try to rotate them around a common pivot everything starts moving in circles around that particular point while keeping their global orientation.

Does anybody have an idea what setting I might have messed up?

I just found out it behaves as if I locked these locks on every object in the scene. However I didn't

Maybe you enabled "Manipulate center points", it has the shortcut "Alt-,". If I enable that the cube works (or doesn't :D ) like you describe.

There is a button for it, I circled it in the screenshot.

The only other thing I can think of doing...

Reset or Load Factory Settings,... of course doing this will remove all previous user settings, including the Toolset (which you can reinstall...)

Edit: after crossposting: JP maybe be right.

That fixed it indeed. Thanks a lot :)
It's really the backdraw of the whole keyboard shortcut thing. You don't remember a shortcut correctly and you did something completely different without even noticing...

Really happy that it worked, your problem made me curious because it had to be something simple that you had enabled, or disabled, by accident.

And I'm still not entirely sure when to use that button, I don't think I have ever done so. I should probably manipulate a greater number of center points, lol! :)
