• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I don't know what it is about my setup, but every so often, after installing a developmental release over the top of the previous version, an app decides to not run correctly. A clean install does the trick., though. I originally thought it was just me, but robystar just had a problem with AIFP:

It must be some quirk of either the Windows version or the .NET version, because the apps have nothing in common and the apps don't have much if anything at all the the registry. A quick look at the .config files from version to version doesn't reveal anything either. Just a mystery, I guess.

Weird, the tools don't rely on registry or things like that at all. Only the .NET configuration files. If you install an update in the same folder the old configuration file is used. If you do a clean install a new one is created.

That might be what's happening but the few times that the new version doesn't work correctly, I've never noticed anything different in the .config files. I even checked the file character sets to make sure that the BOM matched the XML header. BTW I did notice a new thread in the MCX subforum where the OP was stating that the app was not displaying his textures. Maybe MS is jealous of everyone here for improving on FSX and they stuck some code in .NET to create uncertainty.
