• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Would it be possible to display any one of the orthogonal views rather than an oblique view?

It would make it easier to determine the results of transformations without using the mouse to drag the model to roughly the appropriate position.

Hi George,

I have been thinking about adding this option before. Should not be that hard to do.

When you view from the front, side or top you still want perspective view or you really expect ortho like in a CAD program?

No, only a single view would be neccessary, side, front, top or oblique.

Thanks,

That should not be too hard to add. Let me see if I find some time this weekend :).

Hi,

It will be available in the development release tomorrow. You'll find an extra button on the toolbar to choose a camera setting. Only in "Free rotate" mode can you rotate the camera. Zooming and panning works in all of them.

Unfortunately the orthogonal view is still perspective centred on the reference point of the model.

What would be useful would be a true orthogonal view with the reference plane shown so that I can determine whether the contact points are correct.

Hi,

It's perspective from the centre of the view indeed. That's what I asked you yesterday :) if you had true ortho in mind or not. Let me see if this can be fixed.

Hi George,

From tomorrow the development release will show them as ortho. I agree with you that is more useful.
