• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Editing Polygons Landclass

Hi!

I have edited some landclass textures putting textures in Texture directory of the scenery, but this not affect the landclass if I use an polygon with SBuliderX.

Any help?

Thanks in advance, Cheers.

The problem is not SBuilderX.

If you make a new landclass bgl ( using resample ), the new textures will replace the originals for that BGL. This is not true for the vector polygons that still use the terrain.cfg settings.

Unless your polys are covering a large area, you might be better off just making photoreal for those areas, and using a blendmask to define the 'polys' that will show. You can use a paint program to 'repaint' or stamp textures onto an image, then turn it into photoreal. This is one of the weaknesses of FSX... you can't used named textures for polys.

The process sounds harder than it is. You may need to add some SDK tool skills, as SBuilderX won't exactly do what you want.

Hi there,

actually, FSX will use your custom textures for the polygons if you also have a "base" landclass file that covers the same area. For example, the base landclass file could cover the area with forest and then your polygons would depict urban or agricultural areas. Basically, this means that you need to have custom textures (and autogen annotations) for all those classes.

(Unlike FS9, FSX doesn't go into a "memory leak" situation if your landclass project has a texture subfolder without the corresponding texture sets. In other words, in theory your base landclass file wouldn't need to call custom classes and your polygons should still show up correctly. I've never tried that "mixed" approach myself though, always worked with complete custom texture sets.)

:)

If I use all the landclass custom in my "scenery" folder, FSX use these texture
for the polygons too, is that correct?

Thanks
Dario
