• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Exclude a road

Messages

Hi guys,

Struggling here for 4 hours already to get rid of the default road that is going under my apron polys. SbuilderX exclude poly (tried different types) just doesn't do anything. I know that you can't exclude a part of the road, and the SB poly covers an area that surrounds a particular piece of the road, so that's not the issue too.

Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening, or maybe has any other ways to suggest on how to exclude a road?

Thanks

Michael

Make a poly that intersects the road you're trying to remove, you can do this by linking FSX to SBuilderX, and then TAG the poly Exclude_All_Roads. Compile and make sure the BGL file is in a folder that is active in the Scenery Library. Simple?

When excluding Roads the "clip" to a QMID 15 boundary, so yu may be trying to remove a small piece of the road but FSX treats the exclusion as to be for a larger area. You can turn on the QMID grid within SBuilderX to see the area that the exclusion will cover.

Also, roads and traffic are not linked together. So if your road has traffic you will need to make another exclusion poly to exclude the "Freeway Traffic".

If this is a default FSX road, give us a latitude-longitude, and maybe we can try it ourselves... to see if there is an odd problem.

I know nothing at all of creating/modding airports, but I have been working on a mission that starts at KGNU -- Naval Station Norfolk, VA -- and the freeway traffic that runs there right across the runway is absolutely maddening.

I have read several posts and learned that in real life the highway runs right under the runway. So is there nothing that can be done?

Is it not possible to created some kind of traffic exclusion zone there... similar to what the gentleman that started this thread was trying to do?

It is not so much the tool, as the tag.

For traffic: Exclude Freeeway Traffic.

Note this will knock out a QMID14 square of traffic .. not just your little bit.

How would I do this? I guess I need some basic understanding of using ADE to edit an airport, yes?

Create a Polygon (In SbuilderX, FSX_KML, or ADE)

Tag it with Exclude Freeway traffic.

Compile a bgl with the exclusion in it.

Actually should be two tags, and two exclude polygon ?, one for the "freway traffic" and the other for that part of the road you want change. exclude road.

Make a poly that intersects the road you're trying to remove, you can do this by linking FSX to SBuilderX, and then TAG the poly Exclude_All_Roads.
i sir i have created an exclude polygon to delete default runway near the airport... but i don't find on sbuilderX this option. i have used exclude all objects but i see still the road... Where find this tag?
