• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Exclude Only Polygon

I've seen tutorials on how to add custom scenery etc, and then they add the exclude polygon in that master project which works.

However as I've tried to generate an exclude only polygon project, I can't seem to get it to compile. Has anyone had success in doing so?

Assuming you haven't already done this, make sure to save the polygon into the PackageSource\scene folder prior to building package. How are you setting up your folder structure? There are several good tutorials out there, this fellow has put out several easy to follow tutorials and I recommend starting with the 1st video and then the 2nd video has you creating a polygon for excluding. Even for a polygon only project I believe you still need a scenery project as a base. If you know how to do that then disregard the tutorials. :)

I've followed another tutorial which I got the bridge model into the sim yesterday, and followed all conventions, today, not getting any buildings showing up in sim using the same processes. So frustrated, going through this tutorial again so see if I am missing something.

Thanks Yohan, there was a step in this tutorial that helped...

Basically my process was to convert all the FSX MDL BGL's to MSFS format...

I did a project build before I added the geolocation data which is apparently an important step...

Then I went out of MSFS and dropped the geolocation XML coding in for locating the buildings...

Then I had to go into scenery editor again so it would load the geolocation data...

Then I had to build the project again and now it all works...

However when I tried to add another larger exclude and went to hit save in the scenery editor it wouldn't let me save... Not sure yet if there is a limit on how many elements can be in a scenery project...

Also having issues with texture mapping, the textures need to be flipped vertically from FSX DDS to MSFS DDS
