• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

I'm thinking of adding a credits billboard to my missions.

A BGL object that is just a square (billboard) and the user is placed in front of this object at the start of a mission using a cinematic camera.

I have 2 reasons for this;

1. Advertising the mission creators (models, code etc) or a logo, for freeware missions.

2. A place the mission system will wait for user input.

For example, the mission will wait until the user selects if they would like to view the mission intro or not.

The object will be removed once the user has selected an option.

I thought rather than look at the aircraft/chopper, it would be more fun to show a billboard type object.

What do you guys think? you think this is a good idea, or do you think it may annoy players.

I like the idea. Actually I already did this for the Flight Tales 1 Demo, where the camera soars through letters, that are written in the sky (semitransparent planes that are deactivated once the camera is).

I liked the look of it and was even thinking about using animated bitmaps via effects. But that turned out to be too much work for a too tiny detail.

I like the semi-transparent idea.

I was also thinking of adding blimps that would float around the mission area, choppers/planes carrying banners etc.

Maybe even a PIP that pops up telling the player about other missions at the end of each mission.

I hate to waste that time at the end of a mission just for the success screen, needs more than that, fireworks etc would be good :D

Yes, thatd be nice - together with a cheering crowd. :D

I'd rather not use PiP, they give most users terrible fps.

Good point, PiP's are heavy on resources.

I played a mission awhile ago that had a big band playing at the helipad when I got home, thought that was a cool touch, can't remember the name of the mission now :o, I think it was choppersim or something like that, it was a recreation of an old maxis game.

Was a good mission, alot of sound and music playing, although the music got a pain after awhile.

So much fun to be had with creating missions :D
