Hi Don
As promised, here are my woes!!
This is how my system is set up together with details of how I can lose my "combined" library file.
I am using Windows 7 Home 32 bit version, FS9 and the latest version of SAMM. FS9 and SAMM are installed outside of the Program Files structure so as to avoid any permissions issues.
Within SAMM I have created a "working" folder called "User Created Files" and in which SAMM has installed its Aircraft, Libraries, Models, Scenery and Texture folders plus the Library.ini file. In the Libraries folder I have created another folder called User Static Files which is where I keep the "combined" library .BGL file and texture folders of all created aircraft.
This is how I run the program:
1 .. Place relevant files and folders in the Aircraft folder.
2 .. Select relevant Title in Aircraft section.
3 .. Click on Save .mdl File.
4 .. Click on Place This Model, accept Positioning Data as is and click on Compile Scenery Model and make sure that the Scenery folder under SAMM is selected.
5 .. Click on Make Object Library, enter a name for Object Library Name, click on Default Library Save Folders radio button, double click on the aircraft model just made and finally click on Save Library button. An Object Library is created for just that single aircraft.
6 .. Now select the combined library folder [for me that is "User Static Files"] from the Object Library Name drop down list, select all the models displayed and click on the Save Library button.
At this point the User Static Aircraft folder is no longer displayed in Windows Explorer and I get a pop up window with the following message:
"Unable to write C:\Program Files 2\SAMM\User Created Files\Libraries\User Static Aircraft\User Static Aircraft.xml"
"Could not find a part of the path C:\Program Files 2\SAMM\User Created Files\Libraries\User Static Aircraft\User Static Aircraft.xml"
Writing all of this down does now make me realise that Step 5 is probably not necessary but it makes no difference. Going from Step 4 straight to Step 6 gives me the same error message and loss of files.
I have my files and folders settings in Windows Explorer set to display all hidden and system files so the inference is that the User Static Aircraft folder and its files seem to have been permanently deleted as they aren't in the Recycle Bin either. Re-booting the system doesn't make any difference - they don't reappear.
As I said in my previous posts in the ADE9X forum, I can produce this effect to order.
Fast forward a little as I have just tried something else ....
I have re-booted my PC and checked to see if the missing files have returned - they are still not there but "User Static Aircraft" still appears in the drop down Object Library Name list??!! Selecting this, then selecting all the models displayed and finally clicking on the Save Library button has recreated all files that were missing.
I'm confused!!
Many thanks for any help you can provide.
