• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

flag flying in the breeze

I see there has been some previous discussions on flags, I was wondering had anyone cracked it? I was wondering about the effect playing a simple 2 frame animation, say play cell 1 for no wind, cell 1 and 2 for <3 knots, cells 2 and 3 for 3 - 6 knots, cells 3 and 4 for 6-9 knots etc.
the other part to this, is it possible to make the frame play in one plane, being attached to a pole. My tinkering so far has failed on the play in one plane, in that if I do that, it seems to be visible in the one plane, but in relation to the FS world. I want it to be in one plane in relation to the object. It would look silly looking down on it from above, and seeing the thing fly out sideways in the horizontal plane.
any thoughts?:yellowfla

Hey tshikwara.

I'm by no means an expert at scenery but I do have an idea for the animation. Would it be possible to make three small boxes(or however many it would take) and by linking and animating them in what ever way would work get them to undulate in a satiafactory manner. As far as the asm or effects code for the different wind speeds again I have no clue. Just thought I'd make a comment. Good luck. Greg.

Animating a flag is really not a problem, I wanted to make it an effect, that way it would respond to the breeze and fly in the appropriate direction, with the appropriate velocity. If landing a helicopter, it could give you the wrong info on wind direction. But worth a try anyway
