• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Flatten gone wrong

Hi.

Im using sbuilder to create a flatten for my airport scenery. Just to test i used a flatten of 500m (the surreounding altitude is 74m) and it worked except for my scenery itself which stayed at 74m. Any suggestions as to why this happened?

Do mi have to raise my scnery up manually to 500m aswell so it sits on top of it??

Thanks

Terry

Hello,

I am not sure to what you refer to as "your scenery". If your scenery consists, say, of library objects, there are 2 possibilities:

a) you placed the objects with AGL = True. Then there is no problem. The objects will get on top of the terrain. If you change the terrain altitude, the objects go with it.

b) you placed the objects with AGL = False. In this case the positioning of your objects is referred to the sea level. The situation is like that you describe.

In addition to this, airport, runways, etc, have altitudes that are also referred to sea level. Please be more specific with regard to the type of scenery that you are referring to.

Best Regards, Luis

Thanks for the reply. iv created scnery in gmax for Dublin airport ireland which consists of custom runways, taxiways, aprons etc and all the buildings. Iv made a huge flatten polygon, however the whole area within the airport perimeter remains at the same altitude.

Hello,

It seems that your gmax scenery has an absolute altitude. I am no expert on the gmax modeller. I hope someone enters this discussion and gives us an answer.

Just to be sure, as it is not mentioned, but did you exclude the original flatten? If not, the second will not take effect, I do believe.

Not attempting to parse your words, but excluding an airport can mean different things. Airport being the runways, taxiways, aprons, etc. The Airport Background Flatten controls the height. If you do not exclude the default Airport Background Flatten, then any subsequent Airport Background Flatten will have no effect.

Hm,

is there an AFCAD File with the high of 74 Meter?

Than you must change the AFCAD

Thats it i thnk,

there is an afcad with a height of 74m also. I deleted it and no problems.

Thanks a lot

TERRY
