• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

PLease someone tell me what on earth I have done wrong here?
Its been over a week trying to get it right.

The ailerons were working fine until I tried the texture tutorial.
Having said that, this is the second time I have got a model to this stage and fallen over because of this problem.

Additionally the front of the prop is yards ahead of the back of the prop.

This is all with FSDS3.5 imported into FSX on Windows7.

PLease help.

Sorry, my English is very bad.(is Google translate)

Do you have the rudder only animated and then linked via a hierarchy with the wings?
If so, the other way around.

At first glance, it appears that you do not have a dummy part "anchoring" the animated part. This is especially important on an animated part that is slightly off axis.

IT is a quirk of FSDS for FSX that an animated part needs a pivot point of 0,0,0.

The way around this is to create a small dummy part (it can be tagged as a hierarchy part, so as to have it "there" but no actual geometry is made, or a very small part "inside" the actual part.

Since you already have the aileron built in FSDS, make a copy of the aileron, tag it with a prefix of it "ref_xxxx", REMOVE the animations from the REF_ part, remove the texture assignment (if any), for practial reasons, remove all but one polygon, and scale it down so that it is so small it won't be seen at any animation (or tag it hierarchy).

Now, make the "real" animated aileron a child of the REF_ part. Your animated part now has a pivot point of 0,0,0, and should display properly.

I think...

In FSX, untextured parts will also appear "scrambled and/or detached" from where they are supposed to be...

...just saying. ;)

Thanks for the replies.
Firstly it appears the same with textured parts.
Secondly I may have to have a look at the heirarchy business again.
Thanks for the advice.

Hi
Ill just add to Felix answer by saying, that if the parent axis (REF_ part) is not at the same location as the child parts axis, the child part will most times (not always) have an offset added to the animation = to that distance in fsx
