• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

We have added a new Wiki for FsDeveloper, you can use this Wiki to share all your tutorials, manuals, etc with other developers. So come and have a look at:

www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki

For the moment the old SceneryDesign.org Wiki will still be open at www.fsdeveloper.com/scenery/wiki, but once all tutorials have been moved to the new Wiki, the old one will be closed.

Please note that we are still working on add a little more structure to the Wiki, like putting the articles in categories. But while we are doing this, you can already add new stuff of course.

All articles from the old SceneryDesign.org Wiki have now been moved to the new FsDeveloper Wiki. So check them out there. The old Wiki has now been closed (and redirected to the new one).

We are still working on moving the tutorials from the tutorials subforum. Once we have finished that, this subforum will be removed.

So from now on, only use the new Wiki and add all your tutorials to it :).

I think this Wiki should be used for information about the new file structures of FS X. I am not sure to which category that would belong (manuals??, tutorials??), or do we need a new category for that? Using the wiki for that purpose would allow all members to add to the knowledge.

Yes, that is a good point. I think for the moment we can put information about aircraft formats in the "Aircraft design" category, information about scenery formats in the "Scenery design" category, etc.

If these categories become too crowed, we can always split them into different subcategories. For example my article on the Fs2004 scenery MDL format is already in the scenery design category now.

Hi,
I must apologize, because I tried to write a new article for the scenerey design section of the wiki about the FS X file structure, and finding no button to start a new article explicitly, I assumed that going to edit in the main page would automatically result in a new article - but alas, now what I have written is on the main page instead:( . So maybe you Arno as administrator can take it off the main page and put it into a new article. And maybe you can explain how we should proceed to add a new article to a section ??

I have taken care of it, Osman. Basically, when you want to start a new article, you type into your browser window: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title= and then after the =, write the name of the article you want to write, for example for your article, I used http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=Structure_of_Airport_files_in_FSX . After going to the page, that technically does not exist yet, you press the edit, and off you go to type it. Make sure to type underscores between each word in the title as well.

At the very end of the article, you place this:
Code:
[[Category:Scenery design]]
As this will place it into the correct category, sorted alphabetically.

Best,

Owen

You can also enter the title you want in the search box. If it is not found, you are given the option to create that page.

We should make a help page with this kind of information (and protect the main page) :).
