• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSDS problems.........

Hi guys.........

Well things are falling into place and am now making more different objects with fair sucess .....BUT!!!

1---Can someone tell me why after exporting my model Many of the textures which appeared perfectly in FSDS do not show in FS2004?????..this is frustrating since everything looks fine and then this!!!...what am I doing wrong??? or is it this program???

2----After I set up a part "transparent" with alpha channel 0 or 2 and merge the parts together everyhting goes haywire and the transparence goes into other parts also.....what is the sequence I should merge them or wahtever____???

3---In many sceneries I see default FS2004 airplanes landing and taking off...how is that done to a scenery????

Too many questions..?

Thank you Gentlemen.............

1 - MAke sure that your textures are in a format that FS2004 supports. If you have converted to bitmaps from a default paint fromat (usually 24-bit/16M colors), 1 guess as to which format FS2004 doesn't support? Right, the most common one.

2. In FSDS, yes, giving one part (or polygon) a transparent material will cause the other (merged) parts and remaining polygons to "adopt" the transparent material. Keep the transparent part(s) separate.

3. I pass - my limit is to adjust the AI levels in the FS2004 settings... and even at that, I don't touch them too much.,

ad 3) You can create your own default AI traffic for your own new airport. There is a tutorial on www.flightsim.com for FS2002, which also works perfect for FS2004.

I did this for one of my recent sceneries where in default FS9 there was nothing more than a runway and no default general aviation traffic. Once I had built the airport, I also wanted some General Aviation traffic.

Ziegenhorn......Thanks will check that Tutorial, I really need some traffic in my lonesome island!!! thanks......

FelixFFDS....Yep, I got them in 256/8 bit format....I think this program is Looney!!!...
OK...I will leave a "sliver" distance between the parts and see, I should have gotten with Gmax from the outset!!!
Gracias

Can you provide a screenshot - in FSDS and FS2004?

VAERY wild guess.... when you applied the textures in FSDS.. did you inadvertently have a small polygon selected? Is it happening in ALL your parts of the fsc?

Send me the fsc and textures. I want to take a look at it. Now you have me puzzled.

send it to FelixR <at> freeflightdesign.com

Gera,

I'm a gmax user, and that's primarily cuz I'm cheap. Its free. I was an fsds user back during version 1 cuz it was the only gui based object design tool at that point.

When I read this:
<<I should have gotten with Gmax from the outset!!!>>

...I feel obligated to point out that both fsds and gmax have their annoying idiosyncrasies. No one should believe that one or the other program is the one that does just what you expect every time.

Good luck,
Bob

Thanks Bob.....you take a load off!!!!....so you suffer also with G-Max?.... just joking!!!!....yes sir I´ll keep plugging along with FSDS. All programs of all kinds do strange things when they so desire....
