• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX and dualcore

As the prices have become so low on both AMD and Intel DualCore processors, then I am thinking about upgrading my hardware.
Do any of you have any information about FSX supporting dual core ?
I ask this because with the same price i can get AMD X2 3800+ and A64 4000+
As 4000+ has 1 core it is more powerful with software programmed to run on only 1 core
But if FSX is made to run on bot 1 and 2 cores........:D

Yes, FSX will support dual processor. No, it is not known how much benefit it will give. Personally I would not even consider touching ANY existing processor with the water from a remotely controled firehose right now. Give the Core 2 Duo (or whatever it is called) a few weeks to get into the market - even if your will not buy one, the curent processors are not unlikely to drop in price.

Amd will lower its dualcore prices on the 23-rd of July, which means tomorrow up to 50%

How about a mac?
FS should run on a mac too, for you can run windows there too, can't you?
Mac uses dual-core for quite a time now.
Does anybody know something about that?

Nick made a few posts about running FS on a Mac on his blog some time ago.

Mac, Windows, Unix, Linux - they have ALL used dual (or more) CPU for many many years.
The Mac did until recently not use an x86 processor, so all Intel instructions would have to be "translated" to the native CPU instructions. The graphics API call would also have to be mapped to the equivelent Mac API (OpenGL????). This would give a pretty dreadfull performance.

The new x86 Mac systems can indeed run Windows native and would perform just fine - but do not expect it do have a low pricetag when it is a Mac. :)

No Intel, no Mac:D
Only AMD
And i will upgrade only my vga, cpu and mobo
The current system should be this, but it might change
