FSX connection and SP2

Hi all,
I discovered a few days ago that I cannot connect any longer to FSX SP2 from FSX planner v.27, using the local automatic connection method. I get a "No open SimConnect ports were found" error.
I did a couple of test with two Ghost backups, just before and after SP2 installation, and before SP2 installation, the connection works, after it doesn't, without any other change.

At least on my PC,the culprit seems SP2.
Did anyone have the same problem?

Thanks in advance for any reply.

This is interesting. I am running SP1 and not SP2 as I found that SP2 gave me worse performance than SP1. Anyway, could you do the following for me:

1) Open FSX
2) Open an command window (Start -> Run: then enter 'cmd' then hit return)
3) Enter: netstat -b
4) Take a screen shot and post it here.

There should be a line that refers to FSX and SimConnect. Perhaps in FSX SP2, the name of that line has changed. This is what the screen shot should let us know.

Hi Russel,
I've done the test you asked for.
Before taking the screenshot, I've run FSX (SP2).
Please find herebelow the screenshot.
It seems (at least to me) that no FSX reference is shown.
Hope this helps.
Feel free to ask me for any other test.
Thanks

My upgrade test....

For what its worth I tried 27b with SP1 on an Win XP system and the local connection worked as expected.

I then upgraded to SP2 and without restarting the system launched FSX, then FSX Planner and finally tried the local connect. It worked with no apparent problem.

A brief update on my tests. (PROBLEM SOLVED)
I've tried to use the local fixed port method, as advised in the help, so:
A)-------------------------------------
I copied Simconnect.xml from
C:\Program Files\zBlueSoftware\FSX Planner
to
C:\Documents and Settings\my_user\Application Data\Microsoft\FSX
B)-------------------------------------
I Specified a port for the local connection (I used 48447 found in Simconnect.xml)

and all worked flawlessly.

Oddly enough, before SP2 it was possible to connect without the need to specify a port.
Just for curiosity, I looked for Simconnect.dll in c: and I found three copies, the most recent of which dates 15/12/2007, when I installed SP2.
Maybe simconnect.dll has been modified?
Any idea is welcome
Cheers

Glad it is working for you. :)

I believe there was an SDK update with SP2, so having an updated SimConnect would make sense. But I'm not sure why it would not show up in the netstat display.
