• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Exclude Standard Landclass

Hello,

I am new here and about FSX KML :o

First of all - thanks for that nice programm Matthew, that was just the thing I needed!

I designed a small area near my house successfully with a handfull of polygons. Between these polygons I can see in FSX the standard Landclass and that looks far away from professional design

In that context I have some questions:

1) Can a use a frame-polygon with all my little polygons inside to exclude de standard landclass?
2) Is it possible to create overlapping polygons to avoid the appearence of the standard landclass?
3) How the Exclude-Statement can be defined without knowledge what landclass MS has used?

Thats all! Hope aren´t to many questeions?

It really would be a great pleasure to get answers to the most important open questions of my day :D

Have a nice day

What sort of polygons are you using? If parks, snap the vertices of adjacent parks together.

There is no "exclusion" mechansim for landclass. In the case of airport backgrounds it is "remapped" to a handful of textures intended to work with the surrounding/replaced landclass.

Hi Doug,

thanks for the answers.
For an given area I use different Landclasses (Forests, Fields, Golfcourses)
Between this areas the standard Landclass appears which meets not the original ground here in Spain.

Doug, is it possible to Overlapp Polygons for (Forest etc.) without problems in the assembling-process in FSX KML?
In case only the sequents of these KLM-entrys is important (what FS will show) - I am settled.

I don't know. Try it.

Thank you very much

Hi Doug,

I think you miss-understood something in my first letter - do you?

I wrote "I designed a small area near my house successfully with a handfull of polygons. Between these polygons I can see in FSX the standard Landclass and that looks far away from professional design".

As I received your very short answer I thought there must be something wrong. By re-reading my first post, I found the sentence above which could lead to a misundertanding. But this was tought the other way around. MY scenery was made unprofessional and my unprofessional way to make the design.
Did you mean - I was thinking your software leads to an unprofessional result?
I am sorry when this was the fact, please believe me that!

I am very happy with your software. Maybe it was also because my motherlanguage is not English.

Exclude LandClass

Dear Catalano:

The only way to exclude the landclass y create a landclass scenery over the area you are working.

Another solution is create a wole park polygon(With Holes) under your scenery area and create the other polygons insige those holes.

I'm creating shape holes with esri arcmap because FSX_KML 1.03 doen's allow us to create holes in shapefiles...

Thanks.

No offense taken. I was just trying to understand your question. The time I have available to spend on forums is very limited, which sometimes results in posts that are somewhat terse.

Catalunya Coast by Bodo

hi Bodo,
I have downloaded and installed your design catcoast.zip; i think that was the one you mentioned in this thread before.
Very well done; it makes it much more pleasant to fly over that area.
And it gives us starter-designers the courage we all need to continue after some days having failures again...
Thanks for all your efforts!

BTW Did you change any watertexture in FSX?

Kind regards
Bert
