• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Garbled menu bar and pull downs

Anyone have the experience of flying in either Windows or the full screen mode and all of a sudden the menu bar and its pull downs or the right click choice menu gets garbled ... either the text disappears or appears to be a smudge.

When it happens I can recover by changing from windows to full screen and back.

I have 2 MB of memory, 2.9 Ghz processor, and a ATI Radeon HD 2400 PCI graphics card (yup I have only a PCI slot).

Let me add one more item to the original post.

I also notice parts of the my instrument panel will loose resolution also. The instruments stay sharp but panel areas in between, or knobs, etc get a tad blurry.

That sounds like a problem with vram saturation. The sim is sending more data to the video card than it is capable of handling, so bits are falling into oblivion.

There are only two choices. Either reduce the load (by lowering some settings in the sim, or upgrade the computer and video card.

What are your addons…

Just so happens I’m experimenting with hooking external dialogues onto FS, and in full screen mode it’s giving me a @#^! headache.
It smears the display and the windows don’t come and go like they should in windows.

So perhaps it’s the same thing…

Apps like windows, and a pretty habit to get into is to shut down FS as a window so that it starts as a window… perhaps that will help?

If you getting smears but the plane and AI is still smooth… my guess, a problem addon ;)

Gauges are also addons, but should be less prone to this sort of thing, but then a gauge that plays music and makes your tea and coffee may be pushing the envelope ;)

What have you just added to FS?

So really weird stuff can happen, I had a thermal file that turned my compass upside down, no kidding, took me forever to figure out what it was, just one file, literally made the compass point the wrong way ;)

Maybe!

No add ons other than some payware aircraft. My video card only has 256mb.

Maybe my graphics and scenery settings. But there are so many options that is would be hard to find the correct set of settings.

Maybe I'll make everything minimal and work my way up the totem pole until I have a problem.

That is the problem then. Your video card is being oversaturated with data and simply cannot keep up. The only mitigation possible is to throttle back the data stream to a manageable level.
