• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Gimp perspective tool

I'm trying to follow the " build your house" tutorial to make a texture sheet.

I can't get the perspective tool to have any effect. I can drag the four boxes to where I want them on my photo, but when I hit transform, the progress bar goes goes across the screen, but nothing changes. I've tried several settings in the tool options, but not luck. I've also tried wacking my thumb with a big hammer. Results are the same. Should I wack my toe instead?

Not unless you want to Limp instead of Gimp! Sorry, I couldn't resist.:o

I can't even help you with the perspective tool because I use Photoshop which has a perspective tool that I have never had any problems with.

I think I know what is wrong, it's the other hand's thumb which you must wack with the hammer, probably is that what you are doing wrong.
 
I'm so weak-kneed about figuring this out that I'll have to use "Wimp" instead.

Gimp2 on W7.

Tried it too, Bob, but with me it works. So I haven't any inkling why it does not work for you.
Gimp 2.6?
 
Well, I also tried it on my XP machine,and still no luck. So it must be in my procedure and not an OS problem.

Roby, what settings are you using in the tool ooptions?

Not sure what you mean by settings, Bob.
This is what my screen would look like. When I click on transform the toolbar at the bottom indicates the progress of the transformation. That takes about 5 seconds on my PC.

Thanks, Roby. That's just what I needed. The tool doesn't work the way I thought. Your SC helped me to get it to work. Thanks, again

The options I was referring to are whether you transform a layer or selection , view and what gets adjusted,etc.

I apply the tool, click on transform, but nothing happens.
The image doesn't change.:confused:

Hi,

I have finally managed to make it work.
I am not sure whether this solves someone's problem, but i post it just in case.
We have to set the tool options properly.
I have attached an image with the settings the tool works with.
Surely it would work other ways as well.
