• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Gmax / 3d max - Coordinates Script...

I have something that I've began to wonder on...

would there be a way to make gmax / 3d max display coordinates or an aircraft icon in the design window of gmax or 3d max via fsupic or Fsconnect? with the form of a gmax / 3d max script?

i've seen all sorts of clever scripts for gmax / 3d max yet have always wondered if it would be possible to create such a script / plugin to allow the display of coordinates

anyway any pointers welcome

Hi Gareth,

I am not sure if that is really useful. The coordinates you can read with FSUIPC or SimConnect are latitudes and longitudes. While in GMax you are working in a completely different coordinate system (XYZ in meters). So we are not talking about the same coordinates here.

You could convert the lat/lon values to XY if you know the position of the reference point. It is a simple flat earth projection.

I have been thinking along the lines of a program that would read the AFCAD/ADE files and create a Max script file that would draw lines in GMAX, ideal then for lofting out taxiways and center lines.

NOTE for Jon:

Would it be possible to have a switch in SDE/ADE that allows you to have the coordinates output as a bias from the Airport Refence Point?
