• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Gmax and double edging

Hi guys im still working on my Sydney Airport as most of you know. Im up the to stage of perfecting my aerial images for the airport i have managed to do my double edging to my textures but my problem is making gmax use 1022x1022 of the image instead of the whole 1024x1024 ? Any help will be great thanks.

Hi,

When using the Unwrap modifier to do the texture mapping, it is relatively easy to define the right texture coordinates. The 1022x1022 part corresponds with texture coordinates between 0.0009765625 and 0.9990234375

Thanks for the answer but i still haven't solved my problem. This is my method of doing it all up and tell me where i am wrong. My images 1024x1024 i open them up in psp select the edges at 2 pixels from each side and copy it over the main image which apparently gives me my double edges for the bitmap. Now in gmax i have the images put in there , i already have collapsed the uvw feature from before ( i forgot about the double edge stuff when i was doing that) so now i go to my material tree and find the bitmap which is attached to that box and i use the crop function to make the box use 1022 of the images applied to the box. Is this the correct way ?

"Crop" doesn't work when exporting to a model.

Add a new UVW Map modifier, then a new UVW Unwrap modifier, and use the UVW Editor to properly scale the vertices to the texture.
