Im having problems Exporting Scenery form Gmax. After slecting the file for export and Slecting "Flight Sim Scenery Object (*MDL)" and clicking Save. The Export starts and the Make MDL Screen opens and closes quickly Then I get "Flight Simulator Exporter Error, Make MDL was not found or failed to convert the model specfied to a .MDL File . Ckeck your system Path to ensure Make MDl is on it. I have the FS2004 SDK instaled in Gmax/GamePacks/fs2004/plugins. Witch is where the installer put it.

Thanks for any Help :banghead:

the error message is not real, but the error is. Sometimes its in your setup, sometimes in your model. Have you ever exported ok? If so, something in your model is corrupt. check your units, have to be in meters in the general setup....some folks in europe have troubles with the comma vs decimal thing.

I haven't experimented with this much, and dont know if it is the cause, but when i have had that error, it is usually when I've saved the file with a long name, over 8 letters. But if I export again but use a smaller name 5 or 6 letter it exports ok..... I've done this 3 or 4 time now..... strange.

Bob,

no I have never had a sucessful export, all though I have only tryed one file. I checked the ,/. thing when I installed Gmax so I'm fairly sure that its not the problem, But I will recheck it. Units are in meters.

Stevo,

I did have a long file name, will try a shorter one.

Thank's Guys

Hi Ryan.

I've never had a problem with the length of filenames. You shouldn't include spaces in the saved name, and perhaps some characters reserved for file access, but that's about the only restriction. The length could be quite long... better than 100 characters. If there is a problem, it may reside with your Windows setup, as the save function is just a Windows API.

That's what it will be then, (the spaces in the file name.) I've just had a look and the ones I've had problems with, which isnt that many, I did put spaces in. All of my other exported files are just short, one named files.

Stevo :D

Yes, my names are longer than 8 characters in general, so that can not be the problem. But using spaces is always a bad idea, so that must be it.
