• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I'm modelling a jack-up rig and thought I would try your excellent tool on it to see what happened and that I hadn't done anythig stupid with my design.

The model imported correctly but there are a few warnings which i dint understand and i dont know if its in my model or not.

I've listed them below. If you have a little spare time could you maybe take a look at them please.

Particularily the Unsuported RIFF section PLAL?????? And the remove triangle with the zero area?

Not sure where that is in my model - cant find it.

BTW - the model has a hardened PAD

I get the error when I import the .MDL and the .BGL.

Hi,

First they are not errors, but warnings and information. So you don't have to worry too much :).

As Paul already said, platforms are not yet supported. So one of the warnings is because of that. If you export the MDL from ModelConverterX you will loose the platform though.

The other warnings are to indicate that the tool has done some cleaning up on your model. And it has found some triangles with a very small or no area. These have been removed. That can be triangles with two identical vertices for example. In the options you can specify the area that is considered small. By default it is 1e-6 if I remember correctly, which is about 1x1 mm.
