• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GPoly Questions

Ok got a few questions about how to use your Gpoly and ModelConverterX. I have create my ground in 3dsmax have it all texture and everything is set to 0 along the Z axis so that it is all on the ground.

My questions start with how do I get this into MCX to use the GPoly tool? Do I export the entire ground, rwys, markings etc as one large bgl file and then use your GPoly tool to set all the layer settings or should I export things in pieces?

If I export it as all one big blg can I use the regular export to X from max write my xml and create the bgl that I then import into your MCX?

Oops hit enter to quick, I guess this will get me pointed in the right direction.

Thanks!!

Hi,

Yes, you can just export everything in one file. For example to a MDL or BGL file. As long as ModelConverterX can read the format of course :).

After loading the file in the Ground Polygon Wizard you can define the layer for each of the textures in the object.

When I try to convert it tells me not all polys are on the ground and when I click to lower them all it says it cannot find the path to SCASM what and where do I find this??

Hi,

The tool indeed requires all polygons are flat and on the ground. That is something you can filter with the available buttons.

SCASM is the compiler used. You need to set the path to it in the options. You can get the tool from www.scasm.de if you don't have it.

WHAT AN AWESOME TOOL!!

This has single handedly fixed every issue I was having with textures showing through and all those flicker problems!!

THANKS A LOT!!
