• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ground textures

yes.. I did and tried what it said, but I couldn't find the .bgl that the "resample" tool created...

Were there any error then when you tried to compile your INF file with resample? The folder where the output is generated is also specified in the INF file btw.

ok... It says you must create an .inf file first for the data...

what does this mean? and how do i do it?

Did you look at the samples that come with the SDK? They show what information goes in the INF file. Besides that the SDK explains the meaning of all entries in the INF file as well.

Another alternative would be to use a GUI like SBuilderX to place your image in FS, but personally I prefer to use resample directly.

I tried using SbuilderX but after 20 minutes of confusion I uninstalled it...

I was trying to open my .bgl from ADE but it would only come up with the tower point and it wouldnt read a .jpg

Michael - it sounds like you might need to read the SDK again.

You will need an image, oriented North-up (more than one image if you are going to seasonally adjust or put in night textures)

You will need to work out the longitude and Latitude of the upper Left and Lower Right corners ... and hence the pixel dimensions xdim and ydim.

If you look at the sample in the SDK .. then tou can create an .inf file using this data for your image.

Then drag and drop the .inf file onto resample.exe - which will create the bgl file specified in your inf.

SBX has some basic photoscenery ability also, but this has been stymied recently by the Google Satellite tile server.

If you use Virtual Earth, however, it may be able to do some of the work for you ... personally, after a while the manual approach is easier.

ADE is really for airport AFCAD editing .. not for photoreal terrain creation ... it will read Airport bgl's -- not photoscenery ones.

The image use in ADE is as a template to edit your airport taxiways, runways and parking.
