• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Groundpoly disappearing

Hi guys,
I know this argument has been threated many times but I have this damned issue while creating my new scenery. What I do?
I created a plane in gmax and textured as usual. The plane is centered at 0,0,0, so no Z axis value > 0. I exported and tweaked the asm files inserting the layer number (18 in this case). Before export in FS, I also created a LWM Flatten surface (with SBuilder) because the shape of entire airport is not square. Then with FSSC I created a flatten surface (Smooth not Area16).
Finally I exported all in FS. The scenery looks good, but as I wrote above, with particular angolation view, the groundpoly disappear. Could be up to my flatten surface?

thanks!!
alberto

PS: I would point that the flatten cover a surface biggr then the groundpoly itself.

Hi,

Not sure if I understand why you make two flattens, only one should be enough. Or do you mean the FSSC created one is only used to make the ground not bumpy?

Does the polygon only dissapear from certain angles? Or does it disappear at a certain distance? Sounds a bit like the v2 value being wrong, but normally GMax should calculate that correctly for you when exporting.

Hi Arno,
fortunately I solved my problem. It was up(?) to the 2nd flatten surface I created with FSSC. I converted it into an Area16 (Platform) poly and all works fine!
