• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi i'm salman, 22 from Dubai....

i'm new here but with an issue that i wanna solve regarding the textures of airplanes in my FSX! no matter what plane i add in my FSX their textures don't appear on the planes! all i see is the white model! and some textures do load but partially! like from side angle views its visible....but when you look closer its white again! don't know what to do...have the default settings for display in my FSX....directx10 is also enabled...just can't figure out what's wrong!! the textures which are working fine are the only ones which i've done on the default FSX plans like 737-800 and 747-400....but when i add an aircraft and its livery....the texture is blank!! Please help me guys! jus tell me what i can do to make that texture appear on the plane in the day!! even when you select the plane in the main menu of FSX the plane still appears white at the bottom preview!! really strange!!

here's an example: i downloaded an airbus A310-300 in PIA livery from: http://simviation.com/fsxjets13.htm

jus visit there and you'll find the A310 PIA....and than add it to your FSX and play it...you'll know what my issue is then...i want that A310!!! please help me get it...perhaps some changes in texture file might fix the porblem!! the funny thing is that all the PIA textures appear on the plane amazingly in the night! try it out and see how beautiful it looks...but in the day...its all white model of A310! :-(

I Will appreciate all the help guys!!
thx...

If you convert the texures to DDS you need to modify the model file as it will be looking for bmp format textures.

Er, no. I don't know how these things get started, but...

FSX will always look for DDS files first, regardless of whether the model is FS9 compiled or FSX compiled...

In fact, it will load the "DDS version" even if you leave the "old DXT3.BMP version" in the same folder! :D

This is a screenshot of the Premier I's ..\texture folder, showing that I've converted both the fuse bitmaps to DDS/DXT5 format.

Well I have a models which do not respond in that fashion. Thank you Bill, I clearly have a problem I didn't know about, so I will investigate further.

Take note that this will NOT work with FS2k2 compiled .mdl files, only ones compiled with FS9 MakeMDL.exe or FSDS v2.x

This Premier I model for example was built with FSDS v2.x...
