• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Help finding a CTD . . .

Folks, one of my beta testers (and only one!) says my scenery caused a CTD. I'd like to narrow this down before release. So I'm looking for volunteers to download the beta release (9mb), install it and try one experiment. The steps to reproduce the CTD are:

Path 1:
- start at an airport in Europe
- select Go To Airports and go to CYYJ
- CTD?

Path 2:
- start at CBF7 (included in the release)
- "Go To" an airport in Europe
- "Go To" CYYJ
- CTD?

If you do get a CTD, then I seek help narrowing down which part of the scenery causes this. I would provide guidance on which BGLs to disable to figure this out.

This is the only issue that is preventing release at this point.

Incidentally, here's that user's system specs: P4 3.000 GHz, 512MB RAM, Radeon 9800xxl display adapter WindowsXP with SP2

Thanks,

Jon

Hi Stevo, thanks! I'll PM you the link. I've had much more trouble with Radeon users than Nvidia. Actually no probs with Nvidia users. Nonetheless pls give it a try, thanks!

Hi Jon,

I have two PCs with a ATI card here, so if it would help if I tested as well, let me know.

Hi Jon

I tested your scenery and I have to say you've made a great job of it, superb.

I tested both path 1 and 2, at night and day with various fs and freeware/payware aircraft and did not once experience a CTD.

So it seems my setup works fine.

Sorry I couldnt help with your problem.

Stevo :D

Gosh Stevo, don't be sorry, that's what I want to hear! Yours is the 17th machine this has been installed on and it's great news that you have no problems. And that you like it, thank you.

Only one user reported a problem, and that gentlemen is now unable to reproduce the CTD. Indeed he uninstalled the add-on, and still had the problem. Then restarted FS9 and the problem vanished. He reinstalled with no problem.

So I'll just wait to hear from Arno on Saturday that all is cool and then distribute a release candidate to the beta testers for a final check.

You guys on this forum have been an essential and important part of my struggle through the reverse engineering morass of FS add-ons . . . my hat is off.

Jon

Thanks, Damien, I appreciate your comments. Illusion is key, it is only a computer. :)

A release candidate has gone to the beta team, so I hope to release next Tuesday to Flightsim, AVSIM and FS-Shipyards.
