• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys,
I'm placing lights in my Caen2006 scenery. Studying the airport's maps I've found some informations about lights aid, but I can understand just a part of them. Anyone can kindly help me?

"LIH RWY 13/31 - LIH APCH center line 420m TWY 31 - PCL"

Hey Ras,

Is this for Carpiquet airport...tried looking and its the only airport that i see with these runways. Well its kinda hard to make out perhaps if u could send a link to where these maps are if there on the web to see all the info would help.

Hey Ras,

LIH stands for light intensity HIGH...basically there is 3 intensities of lights...low,medium, and high when turned on by the pilot depending how many times he clicks the mic.

PCL stands for pilot controlled lighting...the pilot activates the given com frequency and simply clicks the mic for the intensity he wants.

So...Rwy 13/31 is 1900 meters long with High intensity edge lights spaced at 60 meters apart and are the color white. These are Pilot controlled lights and are only available in high intensity. Also, at the end of both runways, there is red lighting...also high intensity

Rwy 13 only has approach lighting which is 420 meters long..again it is pilot controlled lighting and is only High intensity.Rwy 31 uses PAPI. Both runways have a threshold that use green lighting.

Twy A only use LIL( low intensity lighting )...again controlled by the pilot. At the chart im looking at..its hard to tell if Twy A is Twy 31 on your chart..i assume it would be the taxi way along side the runway.

Hehe :laughing: On the first page I was indeed afraid that whole document would be in French. And I must say my French is not very good.

Last week I was collecting information on an Italian airport for my work and just the same happened there. The document had one page in Italian and the next then gave the English translation. Luckily, as I can't understand a word Italian :D.
