• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

good day, again, ive created a wonderful interational status airport, and im working on it every week to make it better, but i have a few simple questions.

1 - can someone who totally understand approaches give a brief tutorial on how to create different approaches using fsx planner, ILS, VOR, NDB and GPS approaches, thanks much

2 - can i create an airport airspace for/around my airport, and how do i let the ILS beams show up bright on the map, and show other displays like other international airports in fsx.

all help is greatly appreciated

Approaches in FSX are very complicated and involve many parameters. I suggest first reading everything about them in the SDK documentation to see how the variables work together. Then I'd look at how some of the default airports in FSX use approaches and how they are coded. You can open an airport such as LaGuardia and view its approach data in FSX Planner to get an idea of how it works. Once you have that done, you can then start working on your own approaches.

We are working on a better way to create and modify approaches using FSX Planner, but still have a way to go on this new system, so it wono't be available just yet.

An ILS beam should show up on your map if you add it in FSX Planner and assign the appropriate data to it (ident, frequency, etc).

Currently FSX Planner does not support the creation of airspace boundaries, so you would have to enter those manually in the xml code.

A good place to start would be the SDK documentation. Look under the Compiling BGL section, specifically at the Boundary element in that section. Also look at the BoundaryStart, Arc, Line and Circle elements. I haven't done much research on them yet, so can't offer much more that this right now.
