• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

How do i modify mesh height in a bgl?

Yes, Im a newbie.

Im running 70m Global Terrain in FS9 and have come across two issues so far.
One isnt so bad, I can live with it for now.

But there is a Mesa south of KMEM at N34 - 56.04' / W90 - 10.09' that needs to be "Edited" or removed.

How can I accomplish this task?.

1: can I open/load/import the BGL into something and track down the error and fix it?.
2: can I use some other software to insert a scenery object (building, antena or something) at that point, and force it to the correct elevation forcing FS9 to bring the mesh height down to the scenery height?
3: ---- no idea.

Ideas advice and links would be fantastic!

TIA

Hi,

Not really sure what kind of problem you describe, but it sounds a bit like you want to alter a local spot of the mesh altitude? In that case you might want to try to add a flatten to change the altitude there. You can do this with a LWM polygon. SBuilder is probably the easiest tool to do this, it has a connection with FS, so you can just slew to the correct position.

Thanks Arno.

Okay, better description...
Im running the "Global Terrain Mesh". (its a 70m accurate mesh taken from Nasa scans of the planet, the mesh covers pretty much the entier face of the earth except the extream North and South. The whole Msh is 8.5Gig, but its split into sections so you can just download the areas you want. If you never herd of it, check it out here:
http://www.simviation.com/fsdterrainsrtm.htm).
Problem is, the Mesh has a some errors in it. Pits, and Mesas where the data suffored a little "Glitch".
The one I found is a 'lump' about 1,900 feet high south of Memphis. (I also discovered that KMSP is about 20' higher than it should be.)

Thanks again Arno.
Ill grab SBuilder and see what I can do...

Alright. I think I did what I needed to, but it doesnt seem to have worked.

Could someone do a really quick "Howto" for me?. Or an example I can load into SBuilder.
As I said, I just need to over-ride the scenery with a new mesh at the right height.
