• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

P3D v3 How does one adjust Startup Time?

Hey all,

Lets say I want to setup Engine 'Startup Time' from 10 seconds to something like a minute? How would one go about this? Is it possible?

You can somewhat influence spoolup (and therefor startup) time for jets by editing table 1505 in the .air file.
 
Somewhat? I'm not following. That table directly impacts engine spooling... whats the somewhat?
 
If the real thing takes 7.68 seconds from idle to max thrust I'd love to see that exact number replicated with 1505 with a reasonable amount of tral&error. The y-axis units are not straightforward and the curve's slope may not be too shallow, otherwise there won't be any spooling at all.
 
I think you are confusing the situation where this one table can not possibly model the spooling behavior of every turbine ever designed with the situation where this table does indeed control the spool rate of the engine.
 
Few points:
Bill never said whether he was talking about recips or jets. I think it would always help if that info was in all requests.
Bjorn never said that one version of 1505 would control every turbine ever designed.
1505 together with the fuel_flow_gain in the aircraft.cfg can be made to vary the time from pressing start to idle. Lowest time I have seen is 7 seconds, simulating a cartridge started Fiat G-91.
However the situation with recips is totally different and frankly I have little clue how to do it with them other than varying the starter torque.

One is jet, its a WWII German saucer, requiring the mercury to warm up to plasma and then its gyros also to start spinning up. The plasma would take a while. We are presently using a jet airfile.

Many thanks for the input. I'll give that a try and see how it works. I wonder if it might be better to create a gauge that will start it. But then that would be utter chaos with all the people (all, 99.95%) that do not read instructions (even if they do, correctly, without missing sections and points). So that would have to be endured... But I want this to have that time zone of starting up, warming up, before it will fly.
