Probably, this method that I am going to describe may seem too complicated, but I can assure you that it is not, if anything a little tedious due to the many steps that need to be done but in the end the result is satisfying.
Using #JOSM (https://josm.openstreetmap.de/) it is possible to modify OSM data (nodes, paths (ways), and relations) and the related metadata tags.
MS/ASOBO makes extensive use of the vector data (.shp) that is in OpenStreetMap (OSM) to build the default scenery in the simulator.
I am convinced that the MS/ASOBO team keeps the vector data in the simulator updated with data from the entire global JOSM community, which is constantly making changes and additions to this huge database.
As far as we are concerned, a basic knowledge of #QGIS and JOSM is sufficient.
